New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez played the blame game this week in the middle of a global pandemic that is currently plaguing the city she lives in with not only the most confirmed cases, but also the most deaths as a result.
According to Breitbart, at a recent question-and-answer session from social media users, Ocasio-Cortez made crystal clear that she believes the Trump administration’s “negligence” in the handling of the Coronavirus situation early on is what’s responsible for the increasing death toll in America.
“I think that if Trump took this seriously, if Republicans took it seriously, I think that if if we decided to listen to scientists early more than we listen to, you know, people who care more about profit than human lives, we would have taken precautions much earlier and we would have saved lives,” AOC said, after a social media user asked if earlier precautions were taken, if the death toll would be lower right now.
“And everything that is happening is happening late. And every decision that we make late means that people are dying unnecessarily,” AOC added, referring to the Trump administration.
AOC’s blaming of Trump’s actions, or what she perceives as inactions, earlier this year before the virus outbreak exploded, comes on the heels of similar statements made by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
“What the president — his denial at the beginning was deadly. His delaying of getting equipment to where — it continues — his delay in getting equipment to where it’s needed is deadly,” Pelosi said over the weekend in a CNN interview.
