Whatever happened to the Democrats’ cry for a diverse swath of presidential candidates that were young and hip?
Well, it practically disappeared — and now the leading three candidates are straight, white males that are all older than President Donald Trump!
Former Vice President Joe Biden is 77-years-old. Former NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg is 78-years-old. Sen. Bernie Sanders is also 78-years-old, a few months older than Bloomberg.
Trump is 73-years-old.
The left wanted some spring chickens to compete, but they got quite the opposite to compete with the president.
If Democrats want some diversity, then they’ll have to — somehow — revive the effectively-deceased campaigns of both female candidates Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren, who are coming in fourth and fifth places behind their male competitors.
They just don’t get it — it’s about ideology, not intersectionality. One is no better than another because they happen to be a different race, sexuality, or gender. It’s ironic that the left votes their ideology and ends up with three old white guys as their candidates despite the fact that they’ve been looking to force women and minorities into every societal crevice without looking at the only thing that matters — their credentials.
And that’s the heart of the matter. People should be employed or elected based on their merit, not their biological makeup. There’s nothing more shallow than making decisions based on how high they score on the intersectionality index.
We shouldn’t elect Klobuchar or Warren because they’re women. We shouldn’t elect Buttigieg because he’s gay. We shouldn’t have elected Obama because he’s black.
Martin Luther King Jr. said it best: “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
